Cultural Committee of Trachoni.

The Cultural Committee of Trachoni was founded in 1994 with the sole purpose of offering a better quality of life to the inhabitants of the community and a healthy resolution for the many every-day problems that trouble the modern human.

Its visions are crystal clear. Cultural promotion and advancement of the community, the tightening of relations between the inhabitants, preservation of our cultural identity, and a substantial connection with our roots, our history and our tradition.

The committee has certainly a very important role to play in the community, foremost in helping to develop cultural awareness and also in creating the material and technical infrastructure needed to better organize its various activities.

The Cultural Committee, with Mrs. Maria Konstandinou as its president and always in collaboration with the Community Council, holds cultural events related to theater and music. It honors national anniversaries and organizes a number of campaigns concerning tidying up, cleanliness and nature. It participates in various philanthropic events and takes part in other activities in the greater Limassol area. It promotes events that concern our occupied land, honors mothers in families with many children, and awards remarkable persons. It produces recreational events for children and it organizes summer camps. Finally a number of activities are dedicated to our senior citizens.

We must underline the fact that many of the activities of the Cultural Committee have evolved to institutions, allowing the organizers to present worthy, qualitative programs.

The Cultural Committee also participates in the great carnival parade of the Limassol Township the past four years, actually receiving some awards. During 2001 it received a first prize with the subject of "Pampered Youth".

Everyone has embraced the Cultural Committee of Trachoni; the interest and the participation of the public are truly touching, showing how the public perceives that cultural activation acts as a social refuge, leads to a course of development, and transmits a vision to our youth.

C.C.W. (Council for Community Welfare of Trahoni)

The C.C.W. was founded in 1999, with the sole purpose of offering to people of all ages. It is a member of the District Council of Welfare of Limassol and works closely with the Department of Social Welfare Services.
With Mrs. Spiroula Kiprianou as the General Secretary and cooperating with the Community Council, what is important is that the W.W.C. makes serious and coordinated attempts for the creation of facilities and the organization/execution of programs, which will serve on a permanent bases the needs of the community.

C.C.W. activities.

Program for home-based care of senior citizens: with a specially trained caretaker visiting homes of senior citizens or disabled people, doing all the domestic chores and also caring for their personal hygiene needs whenever necessary.

Program for the free time activities of children and adolescents: works on a voluntary basis with about fifty children and adolescents being taught dancing, singing music, theater, and painting under the care of schoolteachers.

Excursions/ entertainment: excursions/ pilgrimages are organized every year with the financial support of sponsors. Practically all the senior citizens of the community participate.

Other events/ meetings are organized from time to time for the purpose of entertaining the members of the community as well as raising funds for the C.C.W.

Future intentions.

Raising modern kindergarten and nursery schools.
A suitable location has been found for the purpose of raising the premises and there's been progress in assigning the design of the plans to a licensed architectural bureau.

Summer camps.
Locating, organizing, and manning a suitable camping place for children is being scheduled.

Excursion/ pilgrimage to "Panayia tis Tinou".
The necessary actions have been taken for correct and precise scheduling of an excursion to "Panayia tis Tinou" for our senior citizens.

The raising of an Adults Center and a Senior Citizens Home.
